‘It’s a little bit embarrassing’: Dickson on new TV ad campaign

A new TV commercial featuring a young girl’s photo, saying “I’m sorry, daddy” has sparked controversy in Toronto, where it’s already been pulled from the airwaves.
The ad, titled “Sorry, Daddy,” is set to air on CBC Radio One this week and features the face of a young boy who says “I’ll be your daddy” to a woman.
The commercial was produced by the Dickson family.
“I think it’s a bit embarrassing for me as a parent,” said Dickson’s mother, Melissa.
“And for me to be able to see my daughter and her father holding hands and having a child, it just goes to show how much we value our children.”
Melissa Dickson said the campaign was a “big relief” for her son.
“He’s such a big part of our family.
He’s so young, and he doesn’t want to make mistakes,” she said.
“If I see him doing that, it really hurts my heart.”
Melissa and her husband, Andrew, said the ad is also a slap in the face to a lot of parents, especially in Toronto.
“It’s like, ‘Hey, you don’t care about your children, you’re just making money,'” said Melissa.
She said she’s hoping her son’s ad will help people realize the importance of having a healthy relationship with their children.
“My son, he was a very good boy, and I’m really happy he’s healthy now,” said Melissa Denton.
Melissa said she was initially upset by the ad, but her family has come to accept the reality of her son and the ad has helped her and Andrew Dickson.
“For him to be so happy, it’s just really amazing,” said Andrew Denton, adding that his family was relieved when the commercial was pulled.
“We’re really happy that he’s OK.
And now we can take it day by day and enjoy him as a little boy,” he said.
Melissa and Andrew said the couple is looking forward to seeing their son grow up and become a father someday.
